Overview: |
This class will introduce a variety of artistic themes, materials and methods while creating three-dimensional forms. Sculptors will create realistic and abstract sculptures utilizing subtractive and additive processes of modeling, molding, casting, carving, and construction/ assemblage. Artists are introduced to skills and techniques along with safe studio practices. Mediums and methods include plaster, clay, stone, metal, wood, and glass. *(see red section; Personal tool set purchase required)

Sculptors complete deliberate practice to learn or improve in media. Sculptors control the subject matter, material choices and approach. Sculptors complete the creative process to create art. Sculptors are self motivated. Experimentation, Play and Failure are honored and encouraged to show growth. Sculptors respect the tools and exhibit safe studio practices. |

You will brainstorm and generate original ideas to create sculptures. You will use the artistic thinking process to create art that is authentic. You will work through a variety of units designed to help you to think and work like a sculptor/ artist. You will use technology to share your work. You will learn to work independently by choosing materials to develop your understanding of sculpture and the aesthetics of art.
You will participate in critiques throughout your artwork; You will be expected to share/ curate your work and develop opinions about the work of others. You will display your evidence of learning on your web page with an artist statement, final photos and an overview/ reflection of development of your sculpture. You will reflect weekly. |

The Artistic Thinking Process, E-portfolio and BLOG will be completed for each work of art/unit. Learners will be conferenced with or assigned 5th period remediation for work/ practice/ webpage development/ or reflection blogging if all are not completed in a timely manner.

*Reflective Blog Post: |
Artists will enter a blog post weekly. This will include evidence of learning of materials, processes, and techniques in their learning by deliberate practice/ artwork creation/ artistic thinking process to create works of art; problems and solutions encountered; and their growth as an artist. Blogs will be coded and feedback provided. Grade mapping preferences are in Sapphire. This is an expectation each artist will complete. (This is not to be used or understood as overall grade or a direct reflection of the work accomplished.)
