Understand the science of learning means it is understood that the brain is not a muscle, it does not grow from hard work and it is not a computer that houses files. It lodges our perceptions and experiences into a network of both, storage and retrieval strength. So using memory for learning means to learn to forget in order to remember. Forgetting filters out distracting information, allows breakdown, then reuses the information to drive the ability to retrieve even higher. Learning how to tune out and forget the noise and clutter will help to tune in the signal of remembering (Carey, 2014).
